How to Upgrade to Windows Vista

Now that you have done your homework:
* Checked your system and built your todo list with Windows Upgrade Advisor
* Figured out which version of Vista to buy
* Bought the right version for the type of upgrade you want to do (clean install or in-place upgrade)
* Made your purchase
It is time to get started! Well...almost. There is some housekeeping you should do on your computer the help you have a nice smooth upgrade.
Here is a check list for you:
* Run a spyware checker such as Spybot Search and Destroy to make sure you have a clean system
* Scan you system for viruses
* Backup your data
* Uninstall the programs that Windows Upgrade Advisor told you are incompatible
* Remove any 3rd-Party Firewall Software
* Clean up your hard drive with XP's Disk Cleanup
* Repair your hard drive with XP's Check Dsk
* Un-install your anti-virus software so it doesn't interfere with vistas install
* Install Windows Vista!
