SubscribeIssues with MCE in Vista?
I'm using Vista Beta RC2 Build 5744 on an old P4 laptop with 1GB RAM and have no issues with speed. Sure, I don't get Aero Glass but no big deal. Works as well or better than XP in my opinion.
Now, media center is another issue. I really hope MS gets this figured out. I have a MCE 2005 desktop that I use and was planning to build a Vista Media center for my living room but I'm holding off based on all the comments thus far.
Matt Goyer, formerly of Microsoft, is not happy with MCE in Vista. I think it is a driver issue and I really hope vendors and everyone gets this worked out before the consumer release next month.
Have you tried Vista's media center? What are your experiences so far?

Vista's Media Center is smooth and stable and works great with my Hauppauge HVR-1300... No complaints at all.

Older system (P4 2.4 / 2GB RAM / Nvidia FX5700/256mb) upgrading to Vista from MCE 2k5... Upgrade went fine... Vista runs fine... Media Center: not so well. The interface stutters horribly. Playback and recording do work, but control response is sluggish. I'm going back to MCE 2k5 because I have no desire to throw money at this dedicated machine that ran XPMCE flawlessly...
