MCE Freezes when trying to play protected content
New knowledge base article ,KB#922677: Media Center stops responding when you use a mouse to double-click a video file that is digitally protected by DRM.
When you use a mouse to double-click a video file that is digitally protected by using Microsoft Windows Media digital rights management (DRM) in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, the video may not play. Additionally, Media Center may stop responding.
To prevent this from happening:
Don't do that. One click only, please.
To resolve the problem after it occurs, use one of the following methods:
Restart the computer.
Manually end the Ehshell.exe process. To do this, follow these steps:
1.Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to start Windows Task Manager.
2.On the Processes tab, click the Ehshell.exe process.
Note The Image Name column in Windows Task Manager lists the Ehshell.exe process.
3.After you highlight the Ehshell.exe process, click End Process.
4.Restart Media Center.
