Better tabs in Firefox 2

I find the default behavior of tabs in Firefox 2 to be troublesome. Here is what the default tab bar looks like when you have more tabs open than will fit in the screen (click for full size image):

As you can see, the close tab button is only visible in the active tab. So if I want to close another tab I have to first click on the tab to activate it so I can see the 'X' to close it. Not an efficient use of my time. Mozilla is trying to be nice and show part of the title of the web page on each tab. That isn't a big deal to me. Hovering the mouse over a tab will show the name or I can click the 'List Tabs' button on the right if I want a list of all the tabs I have open.
I want to see all the 'X's so I can quickly close the tabs. Also, make the tabs smaller so more fit in my window.
Not a problem since you can change a couple things 'under the hood'. Just put about:config in the URL field of your browser and then find the settings the following settings: browser.tabs.tabClipWidth and browser.tabs.tabMinWidth. Double click on them and change the settings so they look like this:

You'll need to restart Firefox after this so that the settings take effect. The next time you open up a whole bunch of tabs they will look like this (click to view full size image):

Exactly what I wanted without the overhead of installing another extension.
