Hulu is Now Open to Everyone

Hulu is an online video site that combines more than 50 content providers including FOX, NBC, MGM, Sony Pictures Television, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, and more. I was in the beta and the site is beautiful. There are ads but they are so short it wasn’t annoying at all. And the ads don’t make the show break up and have you clicking to continue like some sites from the networks.

I’d like it better if I could view the videos on my TV screen. I could do that if I could download them and stream like I do the rest of my video. Also, someone told me they like the Sarah Conner Chronicles so I thought hey, I’ll go back and look on Hulu! No can do, they only have 3 or 4 weeks back and not the first episodes. So now I won’t watch any of the episodes and FOX lost a viewer.

This does change things though. I subscribe to the most basic of basic cable. Hulu gives me access to things like Sci Fi Channel, Fuel, Bravo!, Sundance Channel, National Geographic and on and on…for free. And they are adding HD content provided you have the latest Flash player (Flash Player 9.0.115.0).

Also?  I can legally embed a clip or whole show right into this blog. And I don’t have to take their pre-packaged clip, there are sliders that let you clip the piece YOU like from a show! Impressive. Sure, there will be an ad but it’s free content and I can share the things I enjoy. Or at least I can with my American friends. See, they block foreign IP addresses. I guess you could try an American proxy server but that is kind of a pain.

So lets have a look at this classic Chris Farley episode on Saturday Night Live. One of my all time favorites:
