Register your cell or VOIP phone for reverse 9-1-1

Sorry, this info if only for San Diego but perhaps if others know about it in their city they can let me know in the comments.

The San Diego office of Homeland Security has established a web site where you can register your mobile or VOIP phone for reverse 9-1-1. This was the service that notified many land line phone customers of the need to evacuate in this weeks fires and currently mobile and VOIP (such as Vonage) phone numbers are not in their database. The phone number that you register will be called only if the address you register is affected by an emergency situation.

Please note that the service being offered is for City of San Diego residences and businesses ONLY.
