Monitoring Twitter Replies and References to You
A couple months ago Twitter took a habit of users and turned it into a feature. When people wanted to reply to someone else they would start their tweet something like “@yourtwitterusername I completely agree with you!”. Posts like that get grabbed by the system and put into your replies tab in twitter.
The problem is that this only works when you begin a post with @yourtwitterusername. So I decided another Yahoo! Pipe was needed.
My new Tweets About Me Pipe will monitor anytime someone enters @yourtwitterusername in Twitter. This monitors the whole string and not just the beginning like Twitter’s native Replies feeds.
There is a caveat. This only works for people you are following. If someone who follows you makes a reply it will ONLY show up in your replies tab in twitter. There is a feed for replies but it requires authentication.
Subscribe to the feed and you won’t miss a friend talking about you. If you really want to add value you can subscribe via email using a service like r-mail which takes a feed and sends you an email. This is really handy for monitoring over night or via a device like a Blackberry.
