Monitoring Twitter Replies and References to You

A couple months ago Twitter took a habit of users and turned it into a feature. When people wanted to reply to someone else they would start their tweet something like “@yourtwitterusernameI completely agree with you!”. Posts like that get grabbed by the system and put into your replies tab in twitter.

The problem is that this only works when you begin a post with @yourtwitterusername. So I decided another Yahoo! Pipe was needed.

My new Tweets About Me Pipe will monitor anytime someone enters @yourtwitterusernamein Twitter. This monitors the whole string and not just the beginning like Twitter’s native Replies feeds.

There is a caveat. This only works for people you are following. If someone who follows you makes a reply it will ONLY show up in your replies tab in twitter. There is a feed for replies but it requires authentication.

Subscribe to the feed and you won’t miss a friend talking about you. If you really want to add value you can subscribe via email using a service like r-mail which takes a feed and sends you an email. This is really handy for monitoring over night or via a device like a Blackberry.
