FCC Product Searches
There is a site from for the Federal Communications Communications Commission (FCC) Office of Engineering and Technology that lets you search on any device that required an FCC license. This could be a phone or 2-way radio. Basically anything that transmits or receives radio waves.
The cool thing about it is that you can retrieve PDF’s of specs, tests, manuals, pics, everything. This is really handy for things that move quickly off a vendor’s website.
It is easiest if you have the FCC ID of the device. That is usually somewhere on the device. You can also dig around if you know the name of the device or the manufacturer. If you go that route it is handy to know approximately when it was approved.
When you go to the site you will be presented with a bunch of fields. You don’t need all of them just fill in what you know and try it.
For grins I did a bit of digging and found the much anticipated Apple iPhone. FCC ID# BCGA1203. I’ll let you do your own further digging. The downside is that if the item isn’t released yet there are FCC rules that allow the manufacturer to suppress public display of certain information for a period of 45 after approval. This is the case for the iPhone, I found the letter.
