Keeping your feed out of Yahoo Pipes

A couple weeks ago I talked about Yahoo Pipes, the new service from Yahoo! that lets you mashup feeds and create your own subscription. So what if you don't want that happening to your feed? Feedburner to the rescue as usual.

Not sure how long it has been there but there is a feature on Feedburner under the 'Publicize' tab. Go the the bottom of the Services bar (left hand side) and you will see NoIndex. Here you can turn off indexing of your feed and indicate that you don't want your feed used in Yahoo! Pipes. Be sure to click 'Activate' when you are done.

  • That's a bad feature to enable. Yahoo Pipes can be so great. I've used it to combine a few feeds from business websites. An example: all the Forbes news feeds I read in one feed that eliminates duplicates.

  • Jason, I agree with you. I think Pipes is great because my feed might possibly bring in more readers through some mashup that people do with Pipes.
I posted this in case people wanted to find a way out. You might have a feed you don't want indexed or used in someway beyond your control.
