Performancing for Firefox

Here's an interesting new extension for Firefox 1.5. It's called Performancing. It lets you blog from right with in Firefox. There are things like Blogger's Blog This and other tools that let you do similar things but this one is different.
Performancing puts an icon in the bar at the bottom of your Firefox browser window. Clicking that icon (looks like a little notepad and pencil) splits your browser screen in half. In the bottom half is an editor. The editor is WYSIWYG but has tabs that let you switch to markup view and preview mode so you can see what your post will look like. Additionally, you can edit your text with standard editing icons such as font size, color, bullets, numbering, left-align, right align, and center.
Below the editor is a button for Clear Content which erases your editor window. Also a button called Save as Note which lets you save your edits as a note rather than a blog post.
Performancing can be used with all popular blogging platforms including Blogger.com, WordPress.com, TypePad.com, LiveJournal, Wordpress Custom and MoveableType Custom. You can set up more than one which would let you cross-post quickly. Additionally, there is support for categories as well as the ability to edit past posts to your blog.
I'm going to give this a go. It looks really cool so far. The only negative I give it so far is that adding Technorati tags isn't easy to do. Sure, you can add HTML links quickly but it's still cumbersome just for tagging.

  • Performancing is a nice little add-in. For a *much* more advanced blog editor, check out RocketPost:

    (I designed it.)

It supports built-in photo editing, auto links to related posts, Technorati/Delicious tags, AutoCorrect, and lots more.
