Backlinks for Blogger

Blogger now has back links. Not really trackback per se. Rather links to post that link to your blog using the magic of Javascript and Blogger's new blog search feature.

Read more on:Blogger Buzz and also a nice how to onDigital Instarations page. Note, however, that if you've hacked your template like I have where you've modified the header not to use Bloggers standard meta tag header, you won't automatically get the Javascript necessary to run this new feature. If that's your case, the easiest was to do it is, copy HTML from the template that you use, go back to a standard template and view the resulting HTML source. You'll find the lines of Javascript you need somewhere near the top after the META tags. Copy the HTML out and put it into the text of your real template, add the bits about the new backlink feature and you'll be good to go. Not really much detail but if you hacked your template up that bad you sould be able to figure it out anyway.

  • hello there,
I recently added this new Backlink feature in my blog: http://cinencuentro.blogspot.com/
which is based in a blogger template but i did some modifications over the time, so the html code was added automatically.
The problem is that by enabling Backlist, somehow my template has moved like 30 pixels down. You can see at the very top (below the black google bar) a color tick line, on top of the header image, that line is the background of the wrapper and isnt supposed to be there :(
I tried disabling Backlink but the damaged is done and not reversed.
Please if you can take a look at it and tell me what could have happened here and how to fix it, I'll be very grateful. Please email me to amnesico at gmail.com.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Not really sure what happened there. What I'd do is copy all the text from your template out of blogger and into something like Notepad so you can print it. Then go through and make sure that for ever DIV tag you have a /DIV closing tag.
