Uncommenting
Scobleizer: Microsoft Geek Blogger hints of something new that is coming down the pipeline that will render comments and trackbacks useless. I'm going to call it uncommenting and it sounds cool. Basically, to make a comment, you just blog about someone elses blog entry (as I'm doing here) and be sure to link to it. Then you're thoughts will automagically appear or at least a link to them will appear in the originally blog entry.
I'm going to keep an eye on this one. I think it will really change things and expose a network that, while not exactly hidden, is hard to find and track. Trackbacks are cool but take you extra effort to do and this will cut out that middle man.

I just read that, too, and it does sound cool . The only thing is that it seems to make things easier for comment/trachback spammers, you know? All they'd have to do is link. Of course, there may be some unannounced feature that helps mitigate this issue, too. In which case, I want two! ;-)

maybe i'm just dumb, but while this sounds cool, it seems a lot like a trackback feature which you can set on WordPress...if you post a link to a blog on WordPress, you can have it automatically trackback to that page...how is this much different?

It's different because there isn't a plugin, there isn't needing WordPress or any other particular trackback feature. It just tracks the posts that contain links.
Also, while you may have a nifty plugin, not every blogger out there has one and therefore won't trackback so I might miss what they are saying about what I've said in my blog.
